Kenyan Bloggercon and Bloggers Invite

Microsoft is" thinking "of hosting a bloggers conference for Kenyan bloggers in the near future and will communicate officially in the event of such an occurrence .(Due to the large hue and cry i have been requested to remove the link and make a retraction as to the information being inappropriate to which i hereby humbly oblige and apologize to all my readers and Microsoft East Africa ) .But if you are a blogger of note im sure in the event such an occasion arises im sure they will consider you.For those who submitted details im keeping them in strict confidence.

Im certain that Kenyan bloggers are thankful to Microsoft for such a hearty gesture!

  4. My friend you are not being entirely transparent. Can you post for us a link to official communication from Microsoft? Or a contact that we can verify this? Also why are you the one collecting this information? Why wouldn't Microsoft put up a registration site? What relevance is phone number and physical address? Why 'more information later'? How do we know you're not harvesting contacts for a targeted 'email marketing campaign?' Table the information up front. It will be in everyone's interest including your own

  5. stop getting worried M, if i was email harvesting you would be having spam by now! and Ive just received communication that the invitees will be a limited number and most probably top notch bloggers .So the list will be sifted. The plans and dates are still tentative so there is no official link at the moment! and im not an organizer and cannot divulge their details without their consent! my work is simply to recommend bloggers which i will and as you know this is a blog of international repute would not want to ruin it!but thanks for your concern!

  8. Can you then get the consent please? If it is a legit event, I'm sure they will be happy to oblige.

  10. Do you guys know about the African Bloggers Conference Daudi Were has been planning since 2006? We started this Google group after the first Digital Citizens Indaba in September 2006, and reaffirmed the need and importance at TEDGlobal in Tanzania in 2007, and I have now began an aggressive drive to bring more people resources on board because we have verbal commitments from Google.org, NowPublic.com, MyDigitalLife.co.za and others.

  13. I echo the concerns raised by M and Ory, especially when you inform us that there is a PR firm acting as the "middle man" between you and MS.
An important part of blogging is that you can be as anonymous as you want. I understand the practicalities of having to collect information necessary to hold a conference but why the need for peoples' physical addresses?
In addition why is MS and this PR firm being very hush hush about this? A lot more clarification is required.
Ramon, thanks for spreading the word.

  14. Please note Microsoft requested a retraction which i already did.there is no more information being collected. In case of an event the buzz will come from Microsoft.

Here at Nairobian we are simply not interested in collecting information just for the sake of it or otherwise!
