Latest on The New Zealand Earthquake

A 6.3 Richter Scale Earthquake has hit the island of New Zealand at around 12:45 P.M  leaving an estimated 65 people dead in its aftermath.This is perhaps one of the worst earthquakes to be experienced in the region in the recent pasts. It seems there is no respite for this death dealing kind of earthquakes especially coming only a year after the 2010 Haiti Earthquake.

Such disasters prompt me to think is Kenya really prepared as a Country to handle such large scale Disasters or do we continue to engage ourselves in petty politics, sometimes even playing God with little or no concern for the interests and safety of the vast populations.Kenyan Politicians be ware you are as puny as the ants and the more you play out selfish interests the more you imperil the lives of the Citizens. My sincere condolences to the victims of the New Zealand Earthquake.

Haiti Experiences a 7.0 Richter Scale Earthquake

The Island of Haiti has expereienced one of its most worst Earthquakes ever on a Richter scale of 7.0 totally devastating the capital Port- Au -Prince .So intense was the Earthquake that it collapsed the Presidential Palace which is probably one of the most secure buildings in Haiti.For a country that has been ravaged by po;itical strife, instability and poverty ,the disaster seems overbearing.

The Earthquake has definately created a humanitarian crisis although the international community is already rallying aid and resources to the Country.Haiti has a population of about 9.2 million inhabitants.

Devastating Earthquake /Tsunami Hits American Samoa

A devasatating Earthquake estimated at 7.9/8.0 Ritcher scale hit the American Samoa & Samoa island region leaving in its wake massive destruction and a Tsunami on its tail early today morning 30 September, 2009(about 9 hours ago). I wish to hereby share some of the photos of the aftermath on the American Samoa islands -Pago Pago that i have gathered on twitpic.The death toll at the moment according to Associated press is at 63 with the figure steadily rising as rescue efforts are underway.

We certainly live in perilous times with forces of nature exhibiting their full potential with destructive consequencies .This being all the more reason to stay awake to the sign of the times!
